Palm Springs...a weekend getaway.

I love to travel but I can’t always take time off work, or afford a long far off vacation. That’s another reason I love Los Angeles so much, we are completely surrounded by great, budget friendly weekend destinations from San Diego to Vegas.

Today I’m going to write about Palm Springs:
Palm Springs is a great one to three-night getaway. There are so many resort style hotels with great pools, plenty of great restaurants, and did I mention the outlets (That is if your into shopping!)

Staying in Palm Springs:
Don’t pay full price for a hotel! There are always hotel sales for Palm Springs once you know you’re going start looking out for a good deal. Check your standard daily deal sites such as Groupon, Living Social, Bloomspot, Travel Zoo or if you’re a last minute planner try Hotels Tonight.
I ended up at the Rivera Resort and Spa, with my Bloomspot deal it was $150 for the night. I know that sounds a little bit pricey, but that was half off the regular Saturday night price and the hotel had A LOT to offer, so we didn’t need to find too much entertainment elsewhere.

View from under the cabana at the main pool.
Catching Sun at the smaller pool listening to the live island style band.
We listened to the band at the Starlight Lounge, while we had a few drinks.
We played pool till early in the morning.
The Ariel Tram Way:
It was recommended to me by a friend otherwise I’d never have heard of it. The tram is definitely worth the trip. We went right before dusk, watching the sunset from the top of a mountain with a glass of wine is not something you do everyday.

About two thirds of the way up.

It's about a 20 degree temperature drop once you get to the top.
Surprisingly I’m really not that into outlet shopping, but you can potentially find some great deals. Just be sure to remember that about 75% of the merchandise found in outlet a store was made for outlets prices. This means it’s not the same quality you would find on sale at the regular retail store.
